In 1942 the regulations of the Tsar’s Cup is changed. A match is played between the champions of I and II Sofia Divisions to nominate representative of SSO. The winner is enlisted in the 1/4-final of the State Tournament. Levski is the champion of the I Division of the capital city while Sportist is the champion of the II Division.
Levski is winner of the Cup in 1942 for the first time in the history of the Club.

The referee T. Atanasov sends off the Plovdiv football player Belkov at result 3:1 for Levski in the final match. The Plovdiv players disagree with the referee’s decision and leave the ground 10 minutes before the end of the match.
