Powerful in Bulgaria , powerful in Europe also
The decade starts terribly.
On 30 Jun 1971 Georgi Asparuhov – “Gundy” and his teammate Nikola Kotkov are killed tragically in accident in the Vitinya Pass. Bulgaria mourns over the two great sportsmen.
The severe wound affected strongly the team and its fans. The mutual love becomes stronger.
In the middle and in the second half of the seventies Levski plays the most qualitative football in the country and forms the spine of the national team for the World Championship in Germany in 1974.
Main players of the team are Pavel Panov, Kiril Ivkov, Stefan Aladjov, Dobromir Zechev, Kiril Milanov – “Baiko”, Stefan Pavlov – “Fifi”, Georgi Tsvetkov, Todor Barzov, Voin Voinov, Emil Spasov, Yordan Yordanov.
Levski is champion in 1974, 1977 and 1979 and winner of the National Cup in 1971, 1976, 1977, 1979.
Unforgettable are duels with Ajax, Barcelona, Atletico (Madrid), Duisburg.
In one of skirmishes ‘the blues” succeed even to eliminate the colossus from Amsterdam.
New generation is growing in the children-youths school where of during the next years will talked about with respect and esteem.
